Fall is falling all over the place around here. Canadian Thanksgiving’s already over. And Halloween’s right around the corner (whatever that’s going to be in 2020.)

Are You Stuck In The Middle?

“Stuck in the middle. That’s my life,” she said.

“I’m caught between my kids on one side, and my aging mom on the other. And then there’s my brother. Like he’s helpful. #Not. Not at all.”

She was expressing a common and very challenging complaint. It was the feeling of not-enoughness that so many of us have in our busy lives.

The Day Crater Lake Disappeared

It was gone. Nowhere to be seen. We looked over the edge and saw nothing but fog.

We’d heard of Crater Lake but neither of us had been there. We’d googled pictures of the gorgeous volcanic lake (it’s 1900 feet deep) but hadn’t visited.

We were on our way back from a quick trip to pick up a used bike. My friend lives in Ashland.

He took her big toe into his mouth. Slowly. Softly. She felt her whole body respond. Her back arched. She moaned quietly. And her head fell back.

They were in his secret garden. A magical little space at the side of his house in Marin.

To one side of the seating area was a small fountain. She heard the water flowing.

They spent the night together in a hotel room. Just like their 6 other friends on a COVID Safe girls’ weekend to Seattle. They’d been besties for years.

They loved spending time together at home or on short and long adventures.

They shared stories as they walked through Pikes Market and laughed at the FishMongers.

Went to bed late. Had hotel coffee together in the morning.
