It was just 3 months ago that we went camping with the kids at Frog Lake where we met the Pacific Crest Through Hiker. Seems like ages.
When the seasons change, my life looks different. Right now I’m burning wood in my fireplace. I’m thinking about life, chatting with Jim, talking with the kids on FaceTime over dinner. I'm teaching yoga on Zoom. It’s a cozy time. Time for baking blueberry muffins. Making Tunisian Chickpea Stew. I love the fall. It’s a time of reflection. What did I learn so far this year? What do I want to take forward with me into the new season? What am I going to miss from the beautiful days of summer? It’s like life in miniature. We take one turn around the sun after another. We meet new people. Connect in all the ways. Touch each others’ hearts, minds & bodies. And we move on. Holding on to each other in small and big ways. My clients are reflecting on their lives. They wonder if the person they married is the right one for them. They look back at the past and wonder about the future. Will their relationship get any better? Can they trust each other? She thinks about that time he slept with another woman when they first got married. He wonders if he should have left her when she started getting mean. The summer of their lives is over. They’re moving into fall and they want to tuck in with someone who’ll make them feel loved and adored on a rainy day. Someone whose eyes will shine. What about you? What kinds of experiences have you had so far this year? What have you learned? What are you taking forward into the new season?
