There's Something About Nipples

“Hello, Jane’s nipples,” he said.

I was sitting in my yellow VW bug in the parking lot of the Women’s Center on Poli. It was a breezy morning. Chilly. He’d just finished a run to Two Trees - an iconic landmark at the top of the hill in Ventura.

He spoke to my nipples directly, as if I wasn’t there.

“I wish I could pinch you.”
“But she’s not nice, so she won’t let me right now.”
“We’ll have to play later, when we have time.”
“I’m always thinking of you.”

A real relationship. They knew him.

Women’s nipples have a presence. We know this. Men’s nipples are everywhere but they hold nothing. A woman’s nipples - free or caged, are the key to life. Nipples entrance and mesmerize us. We imagine them, long for them, desire them. They’re the source of our nourishment. They feed us.

Even under our clothes, they attract us and we can’t avert our eyes. Skimpy swimsuits try to hide them but we know they’re there. They look into our deepest souls. Pull us in. Magnetic.

And during COVID they’re experiencing a renaissance. Women are freeing their nipples at home as they work. Unleashing them. They’re expressing themselves freely without shame.

Sometimes it’s just until the doorbell rings for the FedEx Guy. Sometimes they free ‘em for a quick Target Run. Sometimes they snap a nipplish t-shirt pic but delete it later. Sometimes they unleash their nipples 24/7.

In big and small ways, COVID has allowed womxn everywhere to celebrate their nipples.

Nipple. Power.

For the win.
